History

Incorporated in 1966, Charlo is one of the older settlements in Restigouche County. The first plot of land was granted in 1799, the oldest Catholic parish in the county was established in 1853. Today, Charlo has a mixed population of 1600 English and French speaking inhabitants of Catholic and Protestant denomination. The people of Charlo have worked together over the years to establish attractions and facilities to serve visitors and residents alike.
